The High Times Cannabis Cup
The High Times Cannabis Cup is the world’s preeminent Cannabis festival. Founded in 1987, the High Times Cannabis Cup takes place each November in Amsterdam. The event allows judges from around the world to sample and vote for their favorite marijuana strains. These judges-at-large decide the Cannabis Cup (overall winner in the cannabis strain competition), best new product, best booth, best glass, best hash and best Neder hash. A team of VIP judges decide which seed company has grown the best marijuana. The event is widely endorsed by activists who fight for decriminalization of marijuana.
Second known cannabis Cup was the Tokers Bowl in Canada. It first started back in 2000, but was last held in 2006. This Cup was for breeders (mainly seed banks) only.
Highlife Cup
Another important Cannabis Cup was founded by its namesake Highlife magazine in 2002, the Highlife Cup. This Cup is held annually. There are many different categories; Super Cup (overall winner), Highlife Cup, Hash Cup, Outdoor Cup, Haze Cup and Seed Cup (seed banks only). Each category is divided into bio or hydro.
Then in 2004 the IC 420 Growers Cup followed. It has a Breeder Cup (Sativa and Indica category), a Growers Cup (Sativa and Indica category), Best Coffee Shop Cup.
Spannabis Cannabis Cup started in 2005 in Barcelona. This competition has an Outdoor Cup, Indoor Bio Cup, Indoor Hydro Cup and the Resin Cup.
The first High Times Medical Cannabis Cup
This year even saw the first High Times Medical Cannabis Cup. It was held on the weekend of June 19th and 20th in San Francisco. End of this year will also see the 3rd annual Italian Cannabis Cup. These Cups have all been instigated to increase acceptance of marijuana and fight for the decriminalization of marijuana
Our genetics
Most of our genetics stem from the original strains and quite a few of these strains are Cup winners. We have taken these original strains and used them to create new strains. Or we have taken these strains and improved them where we could, either in yield, taste, effect, growing difficulty or disease resistance.
Famous strains such as; AK (winner of eight Cups), Blue Berry (High Times Cup 2000), Bubblegum (winner of two High Times Cannabis Cup), Early Spliff (Multiple High Life Cup winner).
Other winning genetics we used are: Jack Horror (High Times 1994 winner and multiple High Life Cup winner), K2, Northern Light (1989 High Times Cup winner), Spliff Diesel(multiple Cup winner), Super Skunk (1990 Cannabis Cup winner), White Widow (Highlife Cup 2003 and double winner High Times Cup 1995).
