When the Rich and Famous Get Stoned
There has been a trend of late among celebrities being more “open” regarding their cannabis use. In some cases the mere fact that they are admitting to cannabis use increased their overall public acceptance.
A recent story about Robin Thicke admitting to his expensive Marijuana habit has gone somewhat viral on the internet. His claim of spending $500,000 on marijuana (probably per year) has shocked non-smokers and smokers alike.
A Non-Smoker outrage!
For those avid prohibition supporters they should be outraged about this public confession since not only is Mr. Thicke publically exclaiming his refusal to follow the law, but more importantly he has dumped $500,000 into the marijuana market thereby contributing to the existence of thus said market.
This of course is a ridiculous thought and whether a person like Robin Thicke wants to spend a half a million dollars on a plant per year should be surely only of his concern. It’s not like he went out and mugged people to get the money, fans across the world gladly donated their money to purchase a whole lot of weed!
A Smokers Delight
For the cannabis smokers out there the news of another celebrity admitting to their cannabis use is a welcoming gesture. The action in itself of going public with such a statement creates a more legitimate foundation which is precisely the reason why now more than half of the United States is in favor of legalization.
More importantly, every cannabis user out there was surely thinking; “How much weed can I buy for a Half a Million?”
A Celebrity Smoke out!
As mentioned above, many celebrities are becoming more “open” about their consumption habits. As the trend within Hollywood catches fire America will surely follow, it’s been the way that most cultural changes were implemented throughout history.
America is heavily influenced by Hollywood. The average American basis his entire lifestyle on what television and Hollywood dictates and therefore hearing about the rich and famous admitting to their cannabis consumption creates hope for the cannabis legalization movement.
It means that we are quickly reaching the tipping point in terms of legalization and that Prohibition Repeal might not be too far off into the future.
