What Is THC-JD: Benefits, Uses, and Legality

Here we are again with another new cannabinoid to join the ranks. This time, we’re talking about THC-JD, which was just recently discovered in 2020. Although there isn’t much information about this novel cannabinoid, we did some research and want to share with you what we’ve learned so far.

What Is THC-JD?

The jury is out on whether or not the industry will adopt “THC-JD” or “THC-jd” as the official acronym for this THC variant. We know that scientific research is hard to come by, and the only information available is from anecdotal and firsthand experience.

However, we know that THC-JD is naturally occurring, but like many other minor cannabinoids, it’s only found in trace amounts. However, unlike cannabinoids like HHC, Delta-8, or THC-P, this one is extracted directly from hemp or marijuana. There is no additional synthesis or isomerization required.

How Strong is THC-JD?

One thing we do know is that THC-JD has eight carbon chains compared to THC’s five. As we’ve learned from other THC variants, this extra side chain means that it will form a stronger bond with the CB1 receptor. Any time that happens, the high is more pronounced. So, THC-JD is believed to be 19 times more potent than Delta-9 THC and 25 times stronger than Delta-8 THC.

You may have heard that THC-P is 33 times stronger than THC, which leads us to believe it’s the most potent cannabinoid. Yet, despite the “how many times stronger is it” question, science tells us more. THC-JD has the most carbon side chains of any known cannabinoid, leading us to believe it is absolutely the most potent cannabinoid. It’s important to note that these claims are not backed by a lab and remain purely anecdotal at this time.

Effects and Benefits of THC-JD

Users report that this novel cannabinoid feels much like regular THC, but more. So, if you usually smoke a THC vape pen and feel happy, hungry, and sleepy, then assume you will be happier, hungrier, and sleepier with THC-JD. But be warned that these are not the only effects, and consuming too much of any psychoactive cannabinoid can have many unpleasant side effects. Overdoing it might cause paranoia, anxiety, dizziness, nausea, and loss of coordination.

Other consumers report that it’s more indica-like than sativa-like, meaning it has a “couch-lock” effect. Still, others have stated that it’s energizing and mood-boosting. The truth is that all cannabis affects people differently and without more research, we are just now getting to know THC-JD.

The 2018 Farm Bill legalized hemp, allowing for the sale and distribution of products made with industrial hemp. Hemp is high in CBD, and the Farm Bill led to the explosion of CBD products to a new market. Soon to follow were other cannabinoids, some of which even get you high. This is where we stand with THC-JD. It’s a cannabinoid that certainly gets you high, so is it legal? Yes. And no. It depends on where it came from.

THC-JD extracted from marijuana would only be allowed for sale through dispensaries in legal weed states. If extracted from hemp, then it meets a legal loophole. There’s just one stipulation – the entire product cannot contain more than 0.3% Delta-9 THC.

Will THC-JD Show Up On a Drug Test?

Again, there is little research indicating that it will show up on a drug test. However, other THC variants can trigger a positive result, so it would be safe to assume that THC-JD would also. Standard drug tests only care about THC metabolites showing recent drug use and cannot determine whether it was from hemp or marijuana. If you need to pass a drug test soon, avoid all cannabinoid products.

Where to Find THC-JD Products

Because it’s so new, THC-JD is just starting to make its way into the market. Like other novel cannabinoids, it’s primarily found in vape pens, gummies, and infused joints. Dimo Hemp is expert at blending cannabinoids to create the perfect fusion of effects. They offer a THC-JD vape cartridge or disposable pen blended with THC-B and THC-H to get you lifted. This is an excellent place to start, plus Dimo Hemp shares all of their lab results, so you can trust that what you see is what you get.

For now, we’ll await future updates on THC-JD and look forward to all the new discoveries as we continue to explore cannabinoids.
