A High Time for Cannabis Enthusiasts
Visitors in Las Vegas for Super Bowl LVIII this Sunday who are fans of cannabis have a reason to celebrate, as Nevada permits the legal sale of recreational marijuana.
In Nevada, individuals aged 21 and older have the legal authority to buy and carry up to 2.5 ounces of cannabis flower or 7 grams of concentrates. However, there’s an important limitation to keep in mind: consuming cannabis in public spaces, including hotel rooms and Allegiant Stadium, is prohibited.
This regulation confines cannabis consumption largely to private homes, subject to any landlord-imposed restrictions. The NuWu Cannabis consumption lounge, situated on the Paiute reservation downtown, stands as the sole legal venue for public cannabis use currently available.
Tina Ulman, president of the Chamber of Cannabis, announced the upcoming launch of 40 consumption lounges and cafes across Nevada, anticipating a surge in cannabis sales around the Super Bowl time. She expressed disappointment over the state of Nevada and the Cannabis Compliance Board’s oversight in not organizing cannabis consumption events for the Super Bowl, highlighting a significant potential revenue loss for the sector.
In preparation for the expected increase in visitors, Nevada dispensaries are ramping up their inventory, based on insights from LeafLink, a cannabis wholesale platform. The report revealed a 67% rise in wholesale purchases by Nevada stores, focusing on cartridges, flower, and edibles to meet the demand.
Deep Roots Harvest, with six dispensaries across Nevada, is going all out for the Super Bowl, hosting food trucks and special events near their outlet at Blue Diamond Road and Las Vegas Boulevard, close to Allegiant Stadium. Mike Martinez, the group’s director of retail and sales, noted the potential for attracting first-time patrons during the event. The dispensary advises customers about the state’s consumption rules and warns those from other states to avoid consuming too much. For edibles, a starting dose of 10 milligrams is recommended, with effects possibly taking two hours to manifest.
Ulman praised Nevada’s cannabis products and industry, inviting visitors to enjoy their stay and the quality cannabis, hoping they return to Las Vegas for more experiences.
