A brief Analysis of Prohibitionist Logic or the Lack there of
According to Prohibitionists there are several reasons as to why or several “logics” that dictate and support the efforts of prohibition. We’ll take a brief analysis of these logics and debunk every single one of them with reason. Let’s get at it then;
Marijuana is a Gateway Drug and should remain illegal
Marijuana is not a gateway drug and if we wish to come to argue those points the same could be said for Ritalin. In fact roughly 90{2b4a1a3f3bbc9c5a43771f34362679a3afcf9df24c0d9f4fe2fa80a69d802033} of Ritalin consumption occurs in the United States and more kids are taking it than ever. The first real drug kids are exposed to is pharmaceutical in nature and right now trailing to marijuana as the “drug of choice” for high school kids are Opiate medication and other prescription drugs. Marijuana consumption did go on a slight rise over the years however the rise of prescription drugs is far more alarming. Kids aren’t jumping from marijuana to pharmaceuticals, it’s the other way around these days.
Secondly the gateway theory was debunked and classified as irrational by the scientific community for more than a decade now.
Marijuana is Addictive
Marijuana is not habit forming and only a small population of consumers will ever get addicted. Your body processes cannabinoids and is a fundamental part of a healthy organism. Your Endocannabinoid system requires cannabinoids to regulate your immune system. It’s not so much about addiction as it is about nutrition. Smoking cannabis is an enjoyable experience however no one yells addict if someone drinks 3 beers every night after a long day of work. Similarly cannabis users have the know-how to regulate their own consumption habits without it affecting work and productivity.
Marijuana demotivates you
The question is from what? Motivation derives from passion or a sense of purpose. In other words if something doesn’t truly interest you, cannabis may reveal your lack of interest in the subject matter. This doesn’t mean you are “unmotivated” but rather in search of something that does spark your interest. Once a cannabis user identifies his or her desire, there is not much that can stop the user from achieving his or her goal. Motivation does not depend on the substance but rather how the person perceives an action and whether it is “worth it” for thus said person.
I could get into more but really Prohibitionist rhetoric is riddled with misinformation and lies and to debunk each and every one of them will take volumes upon volumes to explain just how failed they are.
