Arkansas: Attorney General Authorizes Medical Marijuana Initiative
Last Thursday, McDaniel qualified said proposal which was submitted by the pro-marijuana legalization organization Arkansans for Compassionate Care. McDaniel’s blessing clears the way for the group to begin gathering the 62,507 signatures that are required in order for the proposed initiated act to be placed on the ballot in 2014.
The aforementioned proposal would permit patients that meet the qualifying conditions to purchase marijuana from nonprofit dispensaries. Patients living a certain distance from the nearest dispensary will be allowed to cultivate a restricted number of plants in the privacy of their residence.
McDaniel also certified another medical marijuana proposal that is all but identical to the one submitted by Arkansans for Compassionate Care other than the fact that it doesn’t permit home cultivation.
It’s been reported that numerous other proposals to legalize marijuana in some form have been submitted to the state’s attorney general’s office. Right on, Arkansas!
