Empowering a New Wave of Entrepreneurs: Annapolis Expert Offers Training in Maryland’s Thriving Cannabis Industry
An Annapolis-based entrepreneur, Jacquie Cohen Roth, is stepping forward to share her expertise in cannabis science by offering training in the growing, testing, and selling of marijuana. With Maryland’s recent legalization of recreational marijuana, Roth aims to guide individuals in successfully entering the burgeoning cannabis industry in the state.
Roth’s dedication to the cannabis field goes beyond her business ambitions. She holds a master’s degree in medical cannabis science from the University of Maryland, Baltimore’s School of Pharmacy. Leveraging her education, she established CannabizMD, a company tailored to provide marijuana industry training that aligns with Maryland’s legal regulations.
Her program is not limited to new entrants to the industry. Roth has expressed a particular interest in aiding those with cannabis-related arrests in their history, offering them a chance to participate in the legal cannabis marketplace.
Maryland’s cannabis market has shown remarkable growth since the legalization of recreational use on July 1. The first week alone saw the expenditure of over $20.9 million at dispensaries, signaling the potential for a billion-dollar industry within the state.
Under this transformative law, individuals who are 21 or older can legally possess up to 1.5 ounces of cannabis. Possession of up to 2.5 ounces no longer triggers a criminal charge but a civil penalty of $250. Additionally, the law introduces a framework for expunging past cases related to the possession of fewer than 10 grams of cannabis, as well as other expungement provisions, as stated by the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission.
Roth’s educational initiative aligns with the momentum of Maryland’s changing landscape, promising a pathway for many to participate in a thriving and legally compliant cannabis industry.
